"As a non-profit organisation serving a vulnerable community in Hong Kong, our team has always been passionate about our mission. Yet, navigating the unique challenges of the non-profit sector can be hard, coupled with the stressors of the pandemic, which is what led us to establishing our EAP with Central Minds. We've seen many of our team go for sessions with Central Minds, with the counsellors being professional, empathetic and knowledgeable, providing a safe space. Our team has reported feeling better equipped to face challenges, and that they have been provided the necessary resources and skills to practice better self-care. Many have felt that the therapists have provided tools and preventative measures to help reframe their mindsets and manage their stress.
The team at Central Minds has been great to work with and we've found it easy to schedule sessions at times that suit us. I have also personally noticed the positive impact on our team's overall mental health - being more resilient, better at managing stress, and being able to continue serving our community without burning out. I would highly recommend this to other organisations looking for an EAP to support their staff. Thank you to the entire team at Central Minds!"

“On April 14th, The Women’s Foundation’s Mentoring Programme 2021-22 cohort had the amazing opportunity to be part of an insightful Mental Health session led by Dr. Sharmeen Shroff and Dr. Zoe Fortune from Central Minds. Our participants learned about some practical tools to support our mental health, especially given these challenging times in Hong Kong. We were reminded of the importance of talking about mental health and ended the session with a much needed breathing exercise. Thank you so much Sharmeen, Zoe and Central Minds for sharing your time and expertise with us.”

“This is to thank your organization, Central Minds, for organizing the “Leading with Empathy” workshop for our senior leadership team members. I particularly appreciate the sincerity and effectiveness of this workshop.
In times like this, it is increasingly important to Lead with Empathy. Your workshop has been an important trigger for each one of us to reconsider our leadership styles. The suggestions by Bhavna Bharvani, the facilitator, provided us with actionable next steps.
We hope to scale this to our next level of managers shortly. Wish you all the best for what you’re doing on this very important topic for the society.”

Corporate Psychotherapy FAQ
What is an EAP?
EAP stands for Employee Assistance Program. It is a voluntary employee benefit program that offers short-term, limited counselling and psychotherapy to assist employees with personal and/or work-related problems.
Is an EAP confidential?
Yes. All sessions with a qualified counsellor or psychologist are completely confidential. Organisations’ do not have access to employee mental health records and notes. There is no need for employees to tell anyone that they are reaching out for support. They do not need to ask for approval, reach out through HR channels or do anything other than contact Central Minds for an appointment.
EAP’s only work if your employees feel able to reach out for help without fear of negative consequences to their job or stigma in the workplace.
There are however limits of confidentiality in order safeguard employees and the people in their lives. These limits will be discussed in detail with your organisation and each individual employee before they begin sessions.
Why Choose Central Minds for your EAP Provider?
Employee Assistance Programs are a great way to provide mental health support to your employees, however our experience is that they continually struggle to meet the needs of employees and organisations. This is typically due to long wait times to see a therapist, lack of culturally centered care and/or lack of real hands-on experience and rigorous academic training of the EAP provider.
Our psychologists and counsellors have years of training and experience and are considered experts in their respective fields. Their rigorous education and hands-on experience equips them with the clinical expertise necessary to correctly assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health issues and complex personal challenges.
Our therapists are bound by strict ethical codes and professional standards set by regulatory bodies in their field and use science-backed, evidence-based, multiculturally informed treatments when working with clients.
At Central Minds, your employee will receive a call-back within 24 hours from their initial point of contact. After this, we guarantee an in-person appointment with one of our qualified trained psychologists or counsellors within 5 days of receiving the initial inquiry.
How much does an EAP cost?
While EAP’s may be costly for organisations, research suggests that total costs associated with mental ill health represent 40–90x of EAP spending (City Mental Health Alliance Hong Kong, Oliver Wyman analysis, 2019).
Direct financial benefits of investing in an EAP
- Reduced absenteeism
- Reduced presenteeism
- Increased productivity
- Decreased turnover
- Improved return to work rates
Indirect financial benefits of investing in an EAP
- Improved employee health and wellbeing
- Enhanced morale and motivation
- Improved employee engagement
- Improved loyalty and retention
- Enhanced organisational resilience
