Stephanie Rose - Counsellor
Specialises in helping clients to identify unmet emotional needs and connect past experiences with present day patterns of behaviour to overcome internal and interpersonal challenges.
MSc, Psychology from City U, Hong Kong
MSc, Counselling, University of Hong Kong
Stephanie works with high-achieving adults who struggle with feelings of anxiety, perfectionism and self-doubt to embark on professional transitions with confidence. Stephanie recently conducted practice-based research on the drivers of Imposter Syndrome, identifying mindset and transitionary moments such as; career pivots, promotions, redundancies, or returning to work after parental leave, as key drivers for psychological distress. She also works with individuals seeking work-life-balance and satisfaction at work in spite of high-pressure circumstances or internal concerns about external judgement. Stephanie uses Schema Therapy to explore the origins of self-limiting beliefs and anxiety, working collaboratively with clients to reconstruct deeply ingrained patterns that are currently holding them back from contentment. She combines this with a growth mindset approach guiding clients to embrace continuous learning, feedback and experimentation to progress.
After several years working at large corporate organisations (Nissan, Deloitte, Oliver Wyman), Stephanie decided on a career shift, going back to university to get her Masters in Psychology at City U and Sheffield Hallam University, and Counselling at the University of Hong Kong. As Stephanie is still ‘on-the-ground’ in the corporate world, she has a deep understanding of the contextual challenges faced by those working in high-pressure environments and spends time working in corporate settings with employees who are navigating career transitions on a continual basis.
Stephanie also consults for City Mental Health Alliance where she collaborates closely with clinical practitioners, employees and employers to design human-centric solutions to employee mental health challenges. This unique experience equips her with a strong understanding of the contextual issues that may impact clients; whether that be challenging team dynamics, unclear expectations and communication, toxic leadership behaviours or organisational changes. Last but not least, Stephanie is a mum so understands the role-strain many parents experience juggling competing demands in a fast-paced city like Hong Kong.
Originally from Denmark and the UK, Stephanie moved to Hong Kong as a child and calls the city her home. As a result of her diverse upbringing, Stephanie brings cultural sensitivity into her practice seeking to understand all experiences with curiosity and respect.
