Dr. Mok-Lammé was born and raised in Hong Kong. After completing her undergraduate degree in the USA, she taught in a secondary school in Hong Kong for two years. She then emigrated to the USA to continue her education and work in several non-governmental organisations in California and western Colorado. She has experience working with immigrants, migrant farm workers, and homeless youth. She also has experience working in community mental health centres, psychiatric hospitals, and crisis services. For the past few years, she has been working in a private practice in western Colorado, serving diverse populations. She is excited to be back in Hong Kong, providing much-needed mental health services in her hometown.
Dr. Mok-Lammé’s theoretical understanding of individuals’ psychology and development is founded on contemporary psychodynamic theories. She believes it is important to understand how an individual’s relationships with primary caregivers affect the development of their personality. These dynamics are often at play in other relationships, including therapeutic interactions, and it is important to explore how these influence behaviour patterns. Dr. Mok-Lammé offers a warm and safe space for clients to explore with her the connections between their past and present experiences and to internalize transformed dynamics they can apply in their day-to-day lives.
While her understanding of psychology is built upon psychodynamic theories, Dr. Mok-Lammé utilizes a variety of treatment approaches to meet the unique needs of each individual. Individuals come to therapy in search of relief from difficult emotions and/or symptoms of mental health disorders. Clients struggling with life challenges and relationships find various techniques to be very effective and helpful. The approaches Dr. Mok-Lammé utilizes include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In addition of helping clients discover insights about themselves, Dr. Mok-Lammé works with individuals to help them develop practical coping strategies to improve and expand their lives.
Dr. Mok-Lammé is fluent in English and Cantonese. She has personal and professional experience with individuals from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds, and she is skilled at navigating cross-cultural relationships. She currently works with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, dissociation, relationship problems, cultural and identity issues, career difficulties, parenting problems, or life-adjustment issues. She is especially gifted in working with individuals who have suffered complex trauma throughout their lives, who grew up in complicated family systems, and/or who are interested in depth therapy.
